A weight loss coach has gone viral on social media after sharing her three simple tips to help banish stubborn belly fat that ‘hangs’ when you take your clothes off
If you’re battling with stubborn belly fat, it can often seem like a huge task to shift it.
You might be eating healthier and exercising regularly, but the weight seems to drop from everywhere except your midsection.
Weight loss guru @project.s.lifestyle took to TikTok to spill the beans on “how to lose stubborn lower belly fat” that “hangs” when you slip out of your trousers – and her advice might be particularly handy if you’re aged 35 or above and finding weight loss more challenging.
She clarified: “You cannot spot where you lose fat,” meaning you can’t target a specific area to lose fat on your body. So, the trick to shedding belly fat is to “lose overall fat” from your body. But how can you do that?
To kick things off, she recommends maintaining a “slight calorie deficit,” which means consuming fewer calories than what you burn throughout the day. To figure this out, multiply your target weight in pounds by 12 and that’s your daily calorie goal.
“Eating too few calories, especially when you’re over 35, it’s gonna slow your metabolism down,” she warned, noting that this could actually make weight loss harder
While sticking to this deficit is important, the health expert suggests allowing yourself a 200-calorie leeway each day, acknowledging that hitting an exact calorie count daily is “very difficult.” Plus, it’s “more sustainable” than sticking to a severely restricted diet.
“We don’t just wanna lose weight, we wanna lose fat,” she explained, and said the key to this is protein. “Protein aids in muscle building and muscle recovery […] so you’re gonna be building and stimulating your muscle which means what’s left to lose? Fat.”
She went on to say that the next step is crucial for sculpting a “toned look” by “building lean muscle”, achieved by “lifting weights three to four times a week.”
“It helps you to speed up your metabolism,” she continued, adding that it enables you to “burn calories all day long”. Committing to 45 minutes to an hour of this routine can significantly aid in achieving fitness goals.
For those looking to follow her advice, she suggested using “dumbbells” at home or hitting the “go to the gym” assuring that these three tips could make a “world of difference” with consistent effort.
