They’re the only products I’ve used so far that have stopped the cold weather from destroying my skin
I’m a skincare fanatic and have tried various brands and products over the years, however I was yet to find a range that worked for me during the colder months that could help my often dry and tight skin look and feel hydrated, soft and glowing. This was until I was sent some products from Ella & Jo Cosmetics to try for myself and it’s safe to say I am obsessed.
I admittedly had never heard of the brand before with it being an Irish-based company, but I can confidently say that I wish I’d found them sooner, as their products have become a staple in my morning and night routine. Ella & Jo Cosmetics was founded in 2017 by make-up artist and skin therapist Niamh Ryan and makeup artist Charlene Flanagan.
The brand has won various beauty awards in recent years and offers a ‘multi-functional range inspired by plants and wellbeing’. Its products are powered by science and ‘puts the fun back into your skincare routine’.

Ella & Jo Cosmetics offers a variety of products that are available on Amazon, including cleansers, moisturisers, serums and face mist. One of my favourite products in the range is the Melt The Day Away Cleansing Balm priced at £36.
I usually use an oil-based makeup remover followed by a liquid cleanser, so I was intrigued to try a balm formula that claimed it would remove my makeup and cleanse my face in one go. I scooped out some of the product, rubbed it between my fingertips and began massaging it over my face.
The balm felt really luxurious and within seconds my foundation started to melt away, and after a few gentle rubs over my eyes, my mascara began to vanish. I applied some warm water to the Ella & Jo Cosmetics face mitt and wiped it over my skin to remove the balm, revealing a completely make-up-free face.
I was so impressed at how quickly the cleansing balm worked its magic and my skin felt soft and glowing. Next, I spritzed the Hyaluronic Face Mist (£26) over my skin which felt cooling and calming. The aim of the spray is to restore moisture, plump fine lines and wrinkles, and relieve tightness.
It can also be used throughout the day to give your face a burst of hydration and bring your make-up back to life. Similar to the cleansing balm, I had never used a face mist before, only a setting spray after applying my makeup. The mist has a gorgeous subtle scent and is super lightweight.
It absorbed into my skin quickly, leaving my face feeling refreshed and less tight. The face mist is another favourite of mine, as I reach for it numerous times a day to give my skin a boost. I then applied the Hyaluronic Serum (£40) that ‘quenches dry and dehydrated skin’ while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
A little goes a long way, as I found only one pump was needed to cover my whole face. It didn’t feel sticky or oily like other serums can, and it absorbed quickly ready for the final step in my nighttime skincare routine – the Ella & Jo Cosmetics Relax & Renew Night Cream (£48).
As someone who would usually use the same moisturiser in the morning and at night, I was intrigued to see if using different products would make a difference. The ‘multi-tasking’ night cream ‘nourishes, repairs, and renews’ and contains a blend of ingredients to hydrate and rejuvenate your skin.
When I first opened the night cream, I was greeted by a dreamy relaxing scent – I couldn’t wait to apply it. I scooped out a coin-sized amount of the product and dotted it around my face before massaging it in. Despite the cream feeling quite thick and luxurious, it absorbed into my skin beautifully leaving it feeling soft and hydrated.
In the morning after using the balm cleanser and applying the face mist and serum, I use the Ella & Jo Cosmetics Plump & Protect Day Cream (£36) instead of the night cream. It also has a gorgeous calming scent, but it felt slightly thicker than the night cream, so I was a bit wary as to how it would sit under my makeup.
I had nothing to worry about, though, as it created the perfect smooth base and helped my makeup stay put all day. The day cream also contains SPF 30 which is an added bonus. The first time I used the product, it was a sunny but cold autumn day, and I felt my skin was protected and hydrated.
I’ve been using the Ella & Jo Cosmetics products every morning and night for nearly two weeks now, and I’ve seen such an improvement in the look and feel of my skin. The only slight downside to the range is the price, as they are quite costly when compared to alternatives on the market. However, I believe they’re worth the price, as they’re the only products I’ve used so far that have actually made a difference and stopped the cold weather from destroying my skin.
