As the US election approaches, Donald Trump said Kamala Harris’s record [in government] is horrible” following the Democrats’s slur at a rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden
Donald Trump has blasted his rivals for calling him a fascist.
The Presidential hopeful, 78, told supporters he is “the opposite of a Nazi” in a defiant five-word comeback at criticism he faced by the Democrats. Speaking at his latest address, Mr Trump accused Kamala Harris’s campaign of using the slur “because her record [in government] is horrible”. He continued: “After two assassination attempts, her lies and slanders are very shameful and really inexcusable.”
But Ms Harris’s party had compared Republican Trump’s rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden to a pro-Nazi event there in 1939. Speaking at a town hall forum, Ms Harris, 60, said her party offers a window into who the former president “really is” and the kind of commander in chief he would be.
When asked if she believed that Mr Trump is a fascist, Harris replied twice, “Yes, I do.” Later, she brought it up herself, saying Mr Trump would, if elected again, be “a president who admires dictators and is a fascist.”
This week’s Madison Square Garden proved to be one of the most bizarre moments of the Republican candidate’s campaign with racist cliché jokes and former wrestler Hulk Hogan ripping apart his T-shirt.
Mr Trump was met with rapturous applause inside the packed stadium before he gave a drawn-out speech where he hit out at his Democrat rival and Vice President Kamala Harris. But eyebrows were raised on several occasions before the former president took to the stage the event saw crude and racist remarks.
The rally was intended to send a message to undecided voters and took place in New York state, a Democrat stronghold predicted to be a comfortable pick up for the Harris campaign on election night. But the event has faced criticism over questionable remarks by its speakers.
Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, a stand-up comic and host of the “Kill Tony” podcast, made racist comments about Latinos and Black people. He told the crowd: “I don’t know if you guys know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”
