Apple has just unleashed its latest and greatest M4-powered MacBook Pros – here’s what’s new.
It’s been a massive week for the Mac with Apple launching new iMac and Mac mini desktop PCs which – along with refreshed designs – are now more powerful than ever. But the news hasn’t stopped there with the US technology giant also now unveiling its very latest MacBook Pro machines which look absolutely mighty.
These rebooted laptops are powered by Apple’s M4 processor which can now perform some tasks over 25% faster than before. There are three chips to choose from – depending on your needs – with fans able to order the new MacBooks with a standard M4 brain, more impressive M4 Pro or ultimate M4 Max.
As well as being faster, the M4 promises to be super-efficient with Apple boasting that its portable PCs could last over 19 hours on a single charge.
There are also two screen sizes including a 14-inch and bigger 16-inch panel which are brighter and can now have a special nano-texture option added which cuts down on glare and reflections.
If you spend endless hours on video calls, the web camera has had a boost with the MacBooks now including a new 12MP Center Stage lens that Apple says delivers enhanced video quality in challenging lighting conditions. It can also follow you around the room so you are always in focus.
Owners will also be treated to better Thunderbolt 5 ports which are faster and the MacBooks get all the usual features such as aluminium design, Touch ID fingerprint scanner and market-leading ForceTouch trackpad.
They have also been built to support the upcoming Apple Intelligence update which is launching in the UK later this year and will help you write emails, produce unique images and find files on your device at lot faster.
“MacBook Pro is an incredibly powerful tool that millions of people use to do their life’s best work, and today we’re making it even better,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering. “With the powerful M4 family of chips, and packed with pro features like Thunderbolt 5, an advanced 12MP Center Stage camera, an all-new nano-texture display option, and Apple Intelligence, the new MacBook Pro continues to be, by far, the world ’s best pro laptop.”
All versions of the new MacBook M4 come with 16GB of memory as standard and are available in Space Black or Silver. Prices start from £1,599 although the 16-inch with M4 Max will set you back at least £3,999.
