The horror collision, which happened at around 8am this morning, involved a black Mercedes-Benz car, which appears to have been wedged next to a bus stop shelter in Salford, Manchester
A Mercedes-Benz ploughed into a bus stop in Salford today with police erecting a huge cordon as they get their investigation underway.
A large part of the street is now taped off, with images from the scene showing a black Mercedes wedged next to a bus stop shelter. Several buses from the Manchester Bee Network can also be seen stopped nearby.
Greater Manchester Police are yet to provide further details about the circumstances around the crash. The force are on site with the North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and Transport Greater Manchester.
Manchester Evening News reporter Helena Vesty, who is at the scene, said: “I’m here in Tootal Drive in Salford where a car has crashed into a bus stop. Police have cordoned off the end of the road towards Eccles Old Road as they deal with the scene.
“The car has is lodged on some bins at the side of the road just before the bus stop, it’s taken significant damage with window glass covering the ground. A truck has arrived to come and review the damage to the car and collect the vehicle.”
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area, near to Eccles Old Road. Police have been in attendance for around an hour, it’s understood.
North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) says two people have been taken to hospital following the crash this morning. A spokesman for NWAS said: “Two patients [were] taken to hospital following an RTC. We received a 999 call at 8.14am.”
