Our style assistant, Grace, paid a visit to the idyllic Cap Vermell Grand Resort in Mallorca – and was blown away by the luxurious hotel and its incredible dining options
Mallorca, a well-known holiday hotspot with its sprawling beaches, quaint villages and breathtaking landscapes, is a favourite among many. If you’re considering a trip to this largest of the Balearic Islands, I strongly recommend heading an hour east of Palma Airport to the tranquil, luxury hotel Cap Vermell Grand Resort, nestled in the heart of the Canyamel valley.
Situated on the northeast side of the island, away from popular spots like Palma and Cala D’or, Cap Vermell offers a peaceful haven separate from Mallorca’s often crowded tourist hustle and bustle. With four on-site restaurants, a spa, 24-hour gym, country club access and close proximity to four prestigious golf courses, this mini village has everything you need for a relaxing weekend getaway.
The rooms at Cap Vermell Grand Resort
The resort is designed to mimic a traditional Mallorcan hilltop village, boasting 142 rooms all featuring private terraces overlooking the serene Canyamel valley. The rooms’ interiors are comfortable, sleek and simple (in the best way) with luxurious Diptyque products, which are a godsend if you’re travelling light.
The resort grounds house two swimming pools plus a separate children’s pool and an outdoor hot tub. And for those seeking a real touch of luxury, there are even private villas with their own pools and spacious rooms – perfect for large families and wedding parties.

Voro
Cap Vermell is the proud home of Voro, a two Michelin Star restaurant and the only one with such an accolade in all of the Balearic Islands. Chef Álvaro Salazar, who was raised in Andalusia, masterfully uses traditional Mediterranean flavours to create a menu that is both unique and nostalgic.
There are two tasting menus on offer: Voro, which boasts 18 ‘creations’ (courses), and Devoro, which impressively features 22. These can be complemented with wine pairings, expertly explained by a sommelier or, if you prefer to select your own, there’s a wine list featuring 300 local and international options.
In my experience, tasting menus can sometimes be overwhelming due to the variety of flavours and ingredients, but this wasn’t the case at Voro. Each course was carefully considered, leaving me feeling full and satisfied.
The service was top-notch too, with our waiter providing detailed explanations of all the dishes. We even received a booklet explaining all the courses we had just savoured at the end of the meal.

Tapas Bar
Is any trip to Spain truly complete without some tapas? I think not, so I was delighted to discover a tapas restaurant (aptly named ‘Tapas Bar’) at the resort. The stylish bar offers seating both outdoors for those who enjoy al fresco dining, and indoors for those who prefer a more intimate setting with modern touches.
The menu boasts a blend of traditional tapas plates such as patatas bravas, croquetas and gildas, alongside elevated dishes like Iberian pork loin, wood-fired octopus and tuna tartar. For me, the standout dish was the beef cheek.
Slow-cooked in rioja wine, mole and butter bean purée, the tender meat fell apart at the slightest touch, making it some of the most succulent beef I’ve ever tasted.
What to do at Cap Vermell Grand Resort
If you’re looking to up your relaxation game, the resort also houses a spa. Serenitas Spa offers a variety of custom-designed treatments from full-body massages (which I can vouch for being worth every penny) to ‘cryo-time freeze facials’, all performed by expert therapists.
Hotel guests also enjoy complimentary access to the country club, just a two-minute stroll down the road. With a semi-Olympic 25-metre indoor pool, tennis and paddle courts, a sauna, a state-of-the-art gym and a full schedule of fitness classes, the club is a must-visit if you’re aiming to balance out the gastronomic indulgence of the hotel.
If you fancy exploring the local area, I’d suggest hiring a car for your stay. Nearby, you’ll discover Artà, a charming village renowned for its historic landmarks and stunning architecture, as well as Canyamel Beach, a 290-metre stretch of pristine white sand. While the beach is within walking distance, about 20 minutes or so, having a car is beneficial if you don’t want to be confined to the resort.
