England complete their Nations League group stage campaign and Lee Carsley’s spell as interim manager as Ireland visit Wembley – here’s how to follow the action
England round off Lee Carsley’s spell as interim boss against Ireland today with plenty riding on the game.
Following Thursday’s 3-0 win against Greece, the Three Lions know victory will send them back to League A of the Nations League. Anything less will open the door to the Greeks, who are away to Finland. While the sides are level on points, England boast a superior goal difference.
Whoever finishes second in the group will face a play-off against a third-place team from League A in March, which England and incoming boss Thomas Tuchel will be keen to avoid. Carsley will be forced to pick another patched-up side after a string of late withdrawals, which has drawn criticism from some, including captain Harry Kane, who believes country should come before club commitments.
However, Thursday’s win in Athens underlined England’s strength in depth, which will have delighted Tuchel. Mirror Football brings you everything you need to know ahead of the Ireland game, including kick-off time, TV channel and streaming details…
