Exclusive:
Tulisa Contostavlos is never known for biting her tongue and the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmate will not be holding back in a new autobiography
Tulisa is set to reveal the secrets of the jungle – after signing a six-figure deal to write her second autobiography.
It will come out next year and also chronicle her picking her life back up since her 2013 arrest for assisting with the supply of cocaine following a newspaper sting. The N Dubz star, 36, has signed with the literary agent branch of YMU and has already spent time working on her book, which she will update following her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.
Her first book, titled Honest: My Story So Far, was released in 2012, and documented her difficult upbringing, including her drug use from the age of 12, and her rise to becoming an X Factor judge aged just 22. Tulisa’s trial collapsed in 2014, and prosecution witness Mazher Mahmood was jailed for conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
In a 2016 court appearance, she was fined £1000 and banned from driving for 15 months after drink driving and crashing her £150,000 Ferrari Spider. In the subsequent decade, the singer reunited with her N Dubz bandmates, but despite releasing an album, the group did not tour. Tulisa has also attempted to break into acting, but her return to screens on I’m A Celeb is her biggest comeback yet.
Her new book will cover all her career moves including how in 2018, she won a royalty dispute and now earns 10% of royalties from the will.i.am and Britney Spears’ hit Scream & Shout. Aged 24, she also diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, which left her face paralysed, and underwent multiple cosmetic surgeries to have fillers put in her face in an attempt to “rebalance” her swellings. She says she ended up stuck in a “vicious cycle” of increasing amounts of surgery.
A source said: “Tulisa’s first autobiography was heartbreaking at times, and it’s impossible to imagine what she’s gone through since. She has enough content for multiple instalments. But one thing is for sure, she will tell her story with the typical honesty of the first instalment and it will include all the raw emotions she has gone through.
“He recent health battles have really inspired her to lay her heart bare. She just hopes there is a brilliantly positive chapter to be written about her time in the jungle. It won’t be a happy ending – it will be a fresh start.” Before entering the jungle, Tulisa told the Mirror she was combating a list of fears as part of a healing process.
“This is the most uncomfortable situation I could possibly put myself in,” she said. “The last thing on the list is this overwhelming fear of being on TV. That’s what I’m going for. It’s like part of my healing journey. There’s something freeing about it. I feel like it’s going to feel like therapy.”
She also discussed how undergoing a double hernia operation over the summer saw her have to retrain to get back into shape before the I’m A Celeb stint. Tulisa has new music prepared to release after she leaves the jungle, but has already set her sights on retiring and becoming a property developer in two years time.
She plans to rent out “themed” properties, with inspiration coming from Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. “I want it to all be very like a nature reserve, cabins in a forest, Hobbit houses.”
