If you’ve noticed that your kettle has started to develop limescale, then you might want to give this hack a try – it takes just minutes and is completely natural and chemical-free
A cleaning expert has revealed her 35p hack for keeping your kettle limescale free – it’ll change your life.
Cleaning expert, Lorna White has revealed to Yours how she recommends descaling your kettle. The hack she uses is super simple and will only cost you about 35p. It’s quick, easy and a total game-changer for keeping your kettle clean and free from limescale build up.
Limescale buildup can be a problem for your kettle if you live in an area with hard water that’s rich in calcium and magnesium minerals. Lorna’s method works to remove limescale quickly and effectively, without the need for harmful chemicals. She explains that all you need is a bottle of white vinegar and some water.
She advises: “Remove limescale from your kettle by filling it with half white vinegar, half water and soaking overnight. In the morning, give it a rinse and the limescale should disappear.” Lorna adds that this method is not only great for keeping your kettle clean and ensuring that it lasts for longer, but it’s also a simple way to make sure that your drinks ‘taste better’.
Lorna also recommends using white vinegar to remove ‘excess limescale’ from your iron. She explains that the best method for removing limescale from your iron is to start by allowing the iron to warm up, then unplugging it and letting it cool slightly. She then recommends filling ‘the reservoir with one part white vinegar to one part water’ and then leaving this to sit for around an hour.
Once the hour is up, Lorna explains that all you need to do is empty out the vinegar, rinse the reservoir out, and your iron should be clean, limescale-free, and ready to use. Just make sure to wash your iron out properly, removing all the vinegar, before using it to do your ironing.
