As the nights get darker earlier, there’s no better time to add some ambience to your home entertainment setup – and these LED strip lights do just that, and are even on sale
With the nights getting darker much earlier, it’s time to embrace the so-called ‘cosy season’. And there’s nothing quite like snuggling up in front of the telly under a blanket.
And if you’re looking to add a touch of ambience to your home entertainment setup, I’ve found just the thing – Tapo’s LED Strip Lights. These lights have been a fantastic addition to my TV, transforming not only the screen but the entire room.
They’re a breeze to control via an app on your phone, and installation is a piece of cake. While I haven’t used this feature myself, they’re also compatible with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant for voice commands.

I was so impressed, I even bought some for my kitchen and bedroom TVs. With Amazon’s Black Friday sale, they’re currently discounted to £14.99 from the usual £22.99, making now the perfect time to grab them.
The advanced version, which offers more detailed colours, is a bit pricier at £29.99, down from £44.99. My only minor complaint is that the adhesive isn’t the best, and I’ve had to re-stick a few corners, reports the Express. But ensuring your TV is clean before applying them seems to help.
The Amazon reviews for the product are largely positive, boasting an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. One satisfied customer shared: “After recently updating our kitchen with a lick of paint, some acoustic panels, and a new 55″ TV we thought it would be nice to use some LED lights on the back of the TV. They are extremely easy to setup with the app, simple cables with on/off button and were easy to stick to the back of the TV. The app is easy to use and provides some nice effects such as lightning. Really good product, but documentation is very basic.”
Another echoed these sentiments, stating: “Super easy to set up and configure, I have many products from TP-Link and all are very reliable. The LEDs are very bright and can be dimmed to a very subtle level. The app is very intuitive and setting up schedules is a breeze.”
However, not everyone was as impressed, with one less enthusiastic reviewer noting: “For this price I expected the app to have more customisable effects. Also colours aren’t accurate at all to what you choose on the app. That could just be my individual strip though. “
In comparison, Dunelm offers some RGB Colour Changing TV LED Strip Lights for a budget-friendly £10, although the reviews are less than stellar, averaging just 2.2 stars out of 5.
Phillips also sells some high-tech LED strip lights that react to the content on your screen, but they come with a heftier price tag of £189.99.
