The BBC has given a first look at the brand-new series of Ten Pound Poms, which follows a group of Brits leaving post-war Britain for an adventure on the other side of the world
The BBC has offered a tantalising glimpse of the brand-new series of Ten Pound Poms, chronicling the journey of Brits departing post-war Britain for an adventure in far-flung lands.
The popular series, crafted by the same creative minds behind Sex Education and the forthcoming BBC adaptation of Lord of the Flies, is slated to make its comeback on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2025, in collaboration with Stan, which broadcasts the series in Australia.
The upcoming series is the brainchild of BAFTA award-winning Danny Brocklehurst, the talent behind Fool Me Once, Ordinary Lies and Brassic, sparking considerable anticipation. Freshly unveiled images reveal series regulars Michelle Keegan, Faye Marsay and Warren Brown reprising their roles as Kate, Annie and Terry.
The photos also introduce new characters joining the series, including the Skinner family who land in Australia from Ireland, eager to embrace their sun-soaked new lives, and shady landlord Benny Bates, who presents Terry with an irresistible offer as he seeks to lay down roots for his family.
Following a challenging first year in Australia, the second series of the drama trails nurse Kate Thorne and the Roberts family into 1957 as they persist in their Australian adventure. Despite the hurdles, they remain resolute in their pursuit of their unique interpretation of the Australian dream.
As Kate, Annie and Terry acclimatise to their new surroundings, they grapple with the disparity between the life they were promised and the stark realities they encounter at Galgownie, reports OK!.
Also making a comeback for the second series are Australian actors Rob Collins as Ron, Leon Ford as Bill, Declan Coyle as Stevie, Stephen Curry as JJ, Hattie Hook as Pattie, Finn Treacy as Peter, Emma Hamilton as Sheila and Cheree Cassidy as Marlene. The filming of the second series of Ten Pound Poms concluded in Australia earlier this year.
