Thailand’s beaches are famous across the world, but there’s so much more to the country than just its stunning coastline – no wonder it’s the latest hotspot for Brits looking to emigrate
The dark and gloomy weather in the UK has got Brits eyeing up a new hotspot for expats – Thailand. With its gorgeous beaches, fascinating history, and tempting government incentives, it’s no wonder there’s been a surge in Brits moving to the tropical paradise.
Data from Wise reveals that over 40,000 British nationals have already set up home there, and according to John Mason International, since 2018 relocations have soared by a whopping 255%.
Simon Hood, executive director at John Mason International, revealed: “There are a number of incentives Thai authorities have launched to lure Brits overseas.”
He added: “The Long-Term Residence (LTR) visa introduced in 2022 offers a ten-year residency for skilled professionals, retirees and investors, even offering certain tax exemptions.
“These measures, along with simplified business registration, make Thailand more accessible to Brits looking to work and put down roots.”
Renowned for its pristine white sands and crystal-clear blue seas, Thailand boasts over 1500 miles of coastline and 1430 islands, making it a prime spot for beach lovers, reports the Express.
One of the most breathtaking spots is Railay Beach in Krabi Province, encircled by towering cliffs that offer awe-inspiring views. The cliffs make Railay only accessible by boat, but they also provide thrilling opportunities for climbing and cliff jumping for the adventurous.
If you prefer a more relaxed day, the beach offers long stretches of white sand and crystal clear sea perfect for lounging. For those seeking a taste of Thailand’s rich culture and history, there are numerous stunning temples to explore.
One of the most renowned is Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) in Bangkok. This Buddhist temple has been a city landmark since 1351 and is one of the few temples in Thailand where you can ascend its main staircase.
With so much to experience, it’s no wonder many Brits choose Thailand for a new life. Even if you’re not planning to relocate, it’s still a beautiful country to visit.
Skyscanner currently lists return flights from several major UK airports to Thailand starting at £630.
