Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Marvel’s Chris Evans star in the festive action-comedy film
If you’re looking for a new Christmas movie to get you well and truly in the spirit, then Dwayne Johnson’s new action comedy might be just the ticket. Red One has debuted online just weeks after it landed in cinemas and is available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “After Santa Claus – Code Name: RED ONE – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.”
Red One boasts a stacked cast led by Dwayne Johnson as Callum Drift, the North Pole’s Head of Security, alongside Captain America’s Chris Evans as Jack O’Malley, a renowned bounty hunter. Also starring are Lucy Liu as Zoe Harlow – the head of an organisation which monitors magical creatures – and Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as Santa Claus

It is directed by Jake Kasdan, the son of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi co-writer Lawrence Kasdan. Jake is best-known for directing the Johnson-led Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level and teamed up with Fast and Furious screenwriter Chris Morgan for Red One.
Speaking to Amazon ahead of Red One’s launch, Johnson said: “The classics like Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life, as well as contemporary favorites like Elf and Bad Santa – we all love them for the same reason. They bring us back to that warm feeling of being with friends and family, the time of year when life slows down for a minute. And there’s nothing better than watching a great Christmas movie with the people you love.”
