Police have launched a probe after a dramatic video showed a mum’s foul-mouthed tirade at a child during a confrontation at a UK high school.
The video, which shows a mum confronting a child at The Derby High School in Bury, Greater Manchester, has caused outrage after circulating online, with local police announcing they were conducting “enquiries”. Multiple clips from the confrontation have been shared on social media, with some showing the mum’s foul-mouthed tirade and the moment the boy appears to fall to the ground.
In another clip, the mum can be heard screaming “how f******g dare you” at the boy. Police said they are now seeking to “understand the full circumstances” of the confrontation, which is believed to have taken place on the school’s grounds at around 3:30pm on Thursday.
The Manchester Evening News reports how the shock video appears to show the mum moving her hand towards the boy, who quickly responds by saying “don’t touch me”. The mum responds saying: “Don’t touch me? It’s alright to touch my son? Is that alright?” Pupils appear to crowd around the boy in another clip showing him appearing to have fallen to the ground, with more footage showing the mum standing over and shouting at him.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the service is aware of the footage, and that a School Liaison Officer has been working closely with the school to ensure “safeguarding measures are in place”. The statement read: “We are aware of video footage that is circulating online which shows a disturbance occurring at a school in Bury.
“Enquiries are ongoing to understand the full circumstances and our School Liaison Officer has been, and will continue, to work closely with the school to ensure the necessary safeguarding measures are in place. No arrests have been made at this stage.” The Mirror has approached The Derby High School for comment.
