Marcus Rashford has struggled for Manchester United with fans and pundits criticising his recent performances – and Troy Deeney believes Ruben Amorim may be tiring of the forward
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim may already be “fed up” with Marcus Rashford, according to Troy Deeney, who has laid into the Red Devils academy graduate.
Rashford has endured a difficult season for United and has only scored four goals in the Premier League, with Amorim dropping him in the last two league games against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
The 27-year-old did score a brace in a 4-0 win over Everton earlier this month. But the forward has struggled for form over the past 18 months and it has widely been reported that Manchester United are giving consideration to selling him.
Deeney singled out Rashford ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend and he genuinely believes the forward might already being testing the patience of Amorim after failing to impress in his last three games.
Writing in his column for The Sun, the former Watford striker said: “Marcus Rashford looks like he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Everything is always everybody else’s fault and his application stinks.
“He is still capable of moments [though]. It wouldn’t surprise me if he goes and scores the winner against Manchester City this weekend and then goes missing for the next few weeks. We saw it on Thursday night, subbed off against Viktoria Plzen and already United boss Ruben Amorim looks fed up with him.
“Look, I’ve been there. It’s not nice when that is happening. As a striker you want to be left on to build some momentum, but I was at the Emirates when he came on against Arsenal last week. He was a disgrace.

“Amorim summed it up best when he joined, telling Rashford he will get full support but it is up to him as a player, a person. That’s where the problem lies. Nobody wants Rashford to fail, but if he keeps delivering these substandard performances then we will all keep on saying the same things.”
This isn’t the first time Rashford has been criticised this season. He was challenged over his decision to fly to America during the international break last month, with Gary Neville calling him “unprofessional”.
His struggles on the pitch saw him miss out on England’s Euro 2024 squad this summer after failing to get back to his best form that led to him scoring 30 goals in the 2022-23 season.
