Former This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has reportedly made it clear he wants to marry again following his divorce from Ruth Langsford as girlfriend Katie Alexander is spotted wearing a ring
Eamonn Holmes has reportedly set his sights on marriage again following his split from Ruth Langsford.
The GB News host, 64, split from Ruth earlier this year after 14 years of marriage. They were together for over two decades, yet their romance came crashing down in May. However, Eamonn has since found love with girlfriend Katie Alexander and recently admitted that he can’t wait for his “tough year” to be over.
Eamonn and Katie have been enjoying their time together in recent months having relaxed on a luxury Mediterranean cruise in September. They have jetted off together again as they took a winter break in Paris. While in the City of Love, Katie was seen wearing a sparkling ring on her engagement finger.
The loved up couple were seen outside the Louvre last week as they stepped out of the world-famous art gallery. Eamonn wrapped up warm as he used a mobility chair while Katie donned a faux leather coat with a patterned silk scarf in photos seen by the Sun. The pair were seen just the previous week at a West London carol concert with no ring in sight on Katie’s hand.
“Eamonn has been talking openly about his plans to marry Katie and has made it clear he wants to spend the rest of his life with her,” a source told the publication. “They’re already living together and he knows it feels right. They have a very strong connection and get on very well.”
They added that Katie has given Eamonn a “real lust for life” and that she looks after him. The TV has suffered from a number of health conditions in recent years and has expressed his fears that he may never be able to walk unaided again. Eamonn refused to have his hip replaced for three decades before finally undergoing surgery on both in 2016.
He went ahead with the major surgery to tackle the chronic hip, leg and back pain which caused him ‘sleepless nights’ and ‘not being able to drive, let alone do anything more physically active’. It has been reported that Eamonn and Katie met on social media and had been in contact “12 years ago.”
Ruth’s legal team are now pulling together a “forensic” timeline of Eamonn’s new relationship ahead of divorce talks. An insider told the Mirror: “Ruth’s legal team are compiling a forensically detailed account of Eamonn’s relationship with Katie and when it started. Ruth’s team are doing their due diligence ahead of the divorce proceedings. They are prepared to speak to people in Ruth and Eamonn’s wider circle.”
The source added: “Katie and Eamonn have been scrambling around to tell their respective exes that they were not romantically involved way back then.” Ruth is said to have hired £400-an-hour lawyer Catherine Costley, who previously worked under the country’s top divorce lawyer, Baroness Fiona Shackleton, who represented the King in his split from Diana, as well as Sir Paul McCartney.
The Loose Women star is yet to address their split in her own words, however has made a series of cryptic comments. While on the ITV show, she chatted with her co-stars about whether they’d ever ditch their children over them picking an unsuitable partner. Ruth turned the direction towards parents who let themselves down by feuding with each other instead of putting their children first.
She shared: “I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents who say, you know, if they’re divorced, something like ‘Well I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming, or if she’s there.’ I just think it’s so selfish, isn’t it?” Co-star Mariella Frostup said: “That’s a whole other subject, isn’t it? How to divorce well…” Ruth interrupted: “Oh, tell me about it!”, seemingly hinting that “divorcing well” was a topic she’d like to know more about.
The Mirror has contacted Eamonn’s representative for comment.
