Mary Berry, who is a fan of easy baking recipes, has shared a simple fork cookie recipe that requires just three ingredients – and home bakers claim it’s the ‘most delicious’ treat
Mary Berry’s sweet treats are a go-to for many home bakers, especially during this festive season.
The baking queen often shares her favourite recipes online, and one of her top picks is her simple yet delicious fork cookies, made with just three ingredients. The recipe first appeared on Mary’s website after she found the century-old treat in a Cordon Bleu cookbook.
Since then, it has been featured on various cooking blogs, including The English Kitchen blog, where it was praised for its simplicity and taste. The blogger wrote: “I trust her recipes 100 per cent and have never baked one of them that hasn’t been exceptional or hasn’t worked out. She truly is the Queen of cakes and bakes.”
They added: “[Whether] you call these cookies, or if you call them biscuits, there is only one word to describe them and that is delicious.”
Here’s how to make them
Ingredients:
- 100g softened butter
- 50g caster sugar
- 150g self-raising flour
Method:
Preheat the oven to 180C/Fan 160/gas 4. Lightly butter two baking trays. Measure the butter into a bowl and whip it until soft, reports the Express.
Gradually mix in the sugar, then start adding the flour. Use your hand to combine the ingredients into a dough. Once baked, remove the cookies from the tray and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Bakers have the freedom to incorporate a variety of extracts such as almond or lemon according to their taste buds, with spices like cinnamon and ginger also being popular additions.
