Convince your friends and family you’re a culinary genius with Mary Berry’s luxury crab and courgette pasta that comes together in less than half an hour – and costs £2 per serving
Eat like Kings with this budget-friendly recipe that tastes simply divine. If the mounds of festive party food has gotten too much, you might be craving something a little lighter. Mary Berry’s no-fuss crab pasta is the perfect solution to offset the beige food we’ve been eating from paper plates all month. “I use a handheld spiralizer for the courgettes, but you can buy them ready-prepared relatively cheaply,” the celeb cook said. “They give a lovely texture and using courgetti means we use less spaghetti in the recipe.”
If you shop at Tesco, you can get all the ingredients listed below for a grand total of £8.01. This excludes olive oil, presuming you already have it in your kitchen, and would leave you with some leftover ingredients including chilli and a big packet of shallots. If you buy loose items or shop around, you could get everything you need for even cheaper. Ready? Let’s dive straight in…
Mary Berry’s no-fuss crab pasta recipe
Ingredients (Serves four)
- 200g Spaghetti
- 100g fresh white crab meat or tinned crab meat, drained
- 6 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 Garlic cloves – crushed
- 3 Courgettes – spiralised. If you’re using bags of courgetti, you’ll need around 500g
- 1 Large banana shallot – thinly sliced
- 1 Red chilli – deseeded and diced
- Juice of half a lemon
- Small bunch of dill – chopped
Method
- Cook your spaghetti by following the packet’s instruction, then drain well. In a large frying pan, add three tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the shallot and fry for three minutes.
- Now, add the chilli and garlic and fry for 30 seconds. If you’re serving the dish to children you can always omit the chilli or half the amount, depending on their tolerance.

- Increase the heat, add the spiralised courgettes and then fry for two minutes. Make sure you don’t overcook the courgette, otherwise it will be turn ‘watery’. Then, add the crab meat, cooked spaghetti, lemon juice and dill.
- Drizzle the remaining oil into the pan and season with a generous amount of salt and black pepper. Toss everything together and serve at once!
