As Apple fans start downloading the new software we’ve found a standout iPhone 16 deal EE that may convince you to ditch your old device
If you’ve been eyeing up the iPhone 16 this festive season then Apple has launched a huge upgrade that may convince you to ditch your old device and opt for one of its flagship models. As its Apple Intelligence software is now available to download.
Months after the iPhone 16 range launch, Apple has finally given flagship users the chance to install its new software – write emails for you, create images for socials, summerise your conversations, and even retouch and edit pictures for you.
The Apple Intelligence move has got many mobile shoppers looking for a deal worth upgrading too, as it just happens we’ve found a standout offer from EE. Who’s beating Apple’s own £799 price and has cut the 128GB iPhone 16 down to £769.

This snappy AI tool is only available on newer models, the iPhone 15 Pro and above – iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. So, anyone with an older model may be tempted to upgrade. If so, a few deals have caught our attention this week.
Mobile deals that caught our eye:
Including EE’s standout price for shoppers wanting to buy the iPhone 16 upfront, retailer Mobiles.co.uk is handing out a huge freebie this month. Anyone who buys a new iPhone will get a pair of AirPods Pro 4 for free, which you can buy here. Elsewhere and Argos and Currys are both selling the iPhone 15 Pro Max for the ‘lowest ever price’ at £1049, a saving of £50.
If you’re not too clued up on the new Apple Intelligence, it’s a new software that came onto users iPhones with the recent iOS 18.2 update, and can take over how users work, as it’s “Built into your iPhone, iPad and Mac to help you write, express yourself and get things done effortlessly”, in the words of Apple.
And tech experts are sharing their thoughts on it too. As Uswitch spokesman Ernest Doku says “this is just the beginning” and as more new phones unveil AI features the ‘battle’ is ‘likely to get more intense’. Seemingly a nod to rival brands who’ve had their own takes on AI like on Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 range and the Google Pixel 9 range.
“This is just the beginning of what we can expect to see from phones in the future. Our data shows that demand for the iPhone 16 has steadily increased in the lead-up to the anticipated rollout.
“Some have already experienced early access to the AI features by changing their phone’s language settings to US English”, said Ernest who highlighted some key features of the new roll out. He said: “The update includes features such as an improved virtual assistant in Siri with ChatGPT integration and AI custom image-generating tools such as Genmoji.
Out of all the Apple iPhone 16 deals, our tech team recommends this £37.99 per month plan. With unlimited data and the 128GB iPhone 16 handset it’s one of the most affordable plans going.
We love the idea of a 24-month contract too, as it’s a lot less than rivals (like Sky Mobile’s) 36-month length options. Even though we’d flag this plan as the best overall, shoppers should know there is a £99 upfront fee
“Apple Intelligence is exclusive to the iPhone 16 series and iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as well as any iPad or Mac with an M1 chip or later, which means some users may be priced out of the experience if they aren’t able to upgrade.
“Consumers could consider other deals and models with AI features front-and-centre, such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 range, the OnePlus 12, or Google’s Pixel 9 series, whose Tensor AI chip improves everything from camera capabilities to conversational speech. The battle of the AI features is likely to get more intense as competitors battle on how to differentiate, as well as offer consumers the most helpful and innovative tools.”
A huge downside to the new AI tool from Apple, as we’ve touched on above, is it will force keen users to upgrade their models, or make the likes of the iPhone 14 range feel out of date when in reality it is only still two years old.
