A terrified nurse got more than she bargained for in her Shein parcel.
Marnie Holman made a large order from the online fashion brand that arrived on Tuesday (December 17). The delivery included a £1.25 two piece Christmas hat and scarf wine bottle decoration that she planned to give to a colleague as a secret Santa gift.
The 22-year-old claimed she spotted something moving inside the sealed bag that contained the gift. Marnie was horrified when she realised it was a large spider.
“I’m terrified of spiders,” Marnie, of Torquay, Devon, told What’s The Jam. “I was taking everything out of the box. Everything came in a big box because it was a big order.
“Everything from Shein is in a sealed plastic, vacuumed casing. As I was opening the bag with the Santa hat inside, something moved across the packaging. I said ‘Oh my f**king God, it’s a spider’ and threw it across the room. It’s absolutely huge.”
She joked: “When I went over to film it, it was showing its fangs to me.” Marnie used a pair of tongs to remove the gift and put the bag, with the spider still inside, in a tub.
Marnie said: “My secret Santa present was due this week so I had to use tongs to pick the present out and then I put the bag in a tub. It’s currently in a box in my kitchen.
“I got in touch with a pest controller because the order came from China so I didn’t know if the spider was harmless.” Marnie says the horrifying experience has put her off shopping at Shein.
She said she informed Shein of her discovery. She added: “I’ve got a massive spider phobia. I used to shop at Shein all the time but it’s put me off massively.”
The Mirror has contacted Shein for comment.
