Alison Hammond has been flooded with compliments following her incredible 11st weight loss. Her This Morning co-hosts made sure to tell her how amazing she looked as she showed off her amazing body in a mermaid costume on the show.
It comes as she is currently playing the Magical Mermaid in Peter Pan as she returns to Birmingham Hippodrome for a second year. The Sun reports that the 49-year-old appeared on a video call with Dermot O’Leary, 51, Josie Gibson, 39 and Kate Lawler, 44.
The three were stunned as a recognisable voice shouted out: “Yoo Hoo!”. Kate replied to the voice asking if it was indeed the presenter. To which she heard back another “Yoo Hoo!”.

And out came Alison, announcing that she was there. Jaws then dropped in the studio as she appeared dressed in the metallic blue mermaid dress and asked Josie and Dermot how they were doing.
But Dermot and Josie were unable to concentrate as they said that their friend and co-host looked “incredible” and “amazing”. Even Kate added: “It’s mermazing! You look like you are straight out of the Little Mermaid.”
Despite popular rumours, Alison dispelled the idea that she had achieved her 11st weight loss with the use of Ozempic, the infamous diabetes drug used by celebrities and people hoping to lose weight. The This Morning presenter revealed that she actually decided to lose weight after the death of her mum, who had been concerned with Alison’s pre-diabetic diagnosis.
The trick to Alison’s success, having once weighed 28st at her heaviest, was no quick fix. But it was relatively simple.
She cut out sweets, fatty foods and started exercising with a personal trainer.
Discussing weight loss jabs, Alison told Good Housekeeping UK: “I think that, for people who need to use them, they’re a good thing – but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.
She added: “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought: “I have to be an adult about this”. The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods.
“Twice a week, I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a bit of yoga.”
As well as losing the weight, she made the considerate decision to sell her old sized 26 clothes to raise money for charity in memory of her late mother, who passed away in 2020 from liver cancer.
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly and her daughter Rosie Smith on the What If? podcast, Alison said she wanted to prioritise her health and wellbeing whilst juggling her on-the-go lifestyle.
She said: “I want my journey to empower others to think about making changes to their lifestyle to become the best version of themselves.”
