Actor Stanley Tucci is known for starring in films such as The Devil Wears Bra and The Lovely Bones.
However, as well as his acting career, the 64-year-old US star loves to share his passion for food too – having released a number of cookbooks.
And now the film icon has shared his recipe for the ‘perfect’ roast potatoes in a new social media post to celebrate the festive season.
Stanley Tucci shared the recipe with his 56,300 followers on X as he wrote: “My recipe for the perfect roast potatoes, you’re welcome.”
The video started with Stanley telling followers: “So we’re going to make roasted potatoes. These are the potatoes that I grew up with. Super simple side dish for meat, fish… anything you want.”
The actor was then seen cutting up his potatoes as he told fans they could “make them smaller if you want”. He recommended adding a lot of garlic, saying: “A fair amount of garlic – six cloves, four cloves… three cloves. More garlic if you want more garlic. Just sliced in half.”
Then he pour “lots of” olive oil on to the potatoes as well as salt and fresh oregano, although he said you can used dried if you want.
Stanley also chopped up some rosemary and added them to the potatoes before ‘giving them a good mix’ in the pan. He recommended cooking them four an hour to an hour an a half, adding “that’s up to you”.
The post quickly went viral, racking up more than 1.6million views, as people thought the potatoes looked great. “Mmm they look delicious,” exclaimed one person, while another added: “Looks fantastic!”
A third chimed in: “Wow, simple and delicious!” While a fourth wrote: “Yes please!”
Stanley didn’t reveal what kind of potatoes he used, however Michelin-trained chef Poppy O-Toole recommends Maris Piper potatoes for roasting. She also recommends a 220C/200C and ensuring you put your roasting tray in a fan oven for about 10 minutes to heat it up before adding your potatoes to make sure you get them nice and crispy.
