A cleaning expert has shared her “controversial” hack to getting condensation off her windows. Lynsey Crombie, aka the Queen of Clean, shared her groundbreaking tip on Instagram with her 371,000 followers, and many said they were eager to try it. The cleaning expert wrote: “This might be the most controversial tip I share, but when I know something works well, I have to pass it on!
“If you’re battling bad window condensation this time of year, try this simple trick: Add a small squirt of washing-up liquid to a cloth and rub it directly onto your internal window glass. This little hack stops the water build-up and can make such a difference. Repeat twice a week and watch the magic happen!
“Now, I know some people will say this just moves the problem elsewhere and causes mould or mildew on walls. It’s true that condensation needs to go somewhere, so always make sure you’re ventilating your space as best you can—crack open a window, use an extractor fan, or a dehumidifier if you can.
“What do you think? Are you a team “give it a go” or a team “no thanks”? Let me know in the comments!”
One wrote: “Team give it a go – love all your tips. X x x. X” Another added: “Great tip.” A third wrote: “Yes I’m going to try on my car windscreen too.”
Lynsey recently shared one clever toiletry item that can work wonders on your home’s surfaces: toothpaste. Toothpaste isn’t just for battling morning breath. Lynsey explained on ITV’s This Morning that it can be used to scrub and brighten up white surfaces, particularly around the kitchen and bathroom. It’s the ultimate multitasker when it comes to home cleaning, offering a surprisingly effective solution for grime and stains that can otherwise be tough to tackle.
One of the standout uses for toothpaste is cleaning grout. If your bathroom tiles have seen better days, this humble tip can be your new best friend. Simply apply a small amount of toothpaste to a damp sponge or toothbrush (Lynsey favours a recycled toothbrush) and gently scrub the grout lines. The toothpaste works wonders to lift away dirt and stains, leaving your tiles looking fresh and bright once again.
Please make sure to use white toothpaste not blue – Lynsey specifically warns against it. White toothpaste is the go-to for most home cleaning tasks due to its abrasiveness, lack of artificial colourants, and consistency. It’s always best to go for a simple, white formula when using toothpaste for cleaning jobs.
