Descaling your showerhead has literally never been easier, this cleaning hack is so simple and totally genius – and the best part is it will only set you back a mere 35p
This simple life hack will leave your showerhead sparkling as if it is brand new, and banish limescale for good. In every home across the country, showerheads are some of the hardest-working appliances around. They go through daily use, and depending on how many people live in your home, this could mean that your showerhead is put to use multiple times every single day – so it’s no wonder that they need a bit of TLC every so often to keep them in good condition.
If you live in a hard water area, then limescale will almost certainly build up in your bathroom – and the showerhead is often a hotspot for this. Limescale is a chalky mineral deposit and whilst it’s pretty much harmless to your health, it can damage your appliances if you don’t regularly treat it – which could cost you money down the line when something needs replacing.
There are a lot of dedicated products out there that aim to eliminate limescale – even when it has seriously built up – but this cleaning hack requires only an incredibly inexpensive household item that you might already have tucked away in a cupboard, and it doesn’t require any scrubbing at all.
This cleaning hack was posted on TikTok by content creator @sss_sophiie – who posts so many ingenious cleaning tips and tricks online and boasts nearly 10,000 followers. The content creator posted a video of a deep clean she had done of her mother’s bathroom – and overall she had the bathroom looking sparkling fresh, but this showerhead hack seriously stole the show.
Sophie demonstrated just how easy this hack is: the content creator simply unscrewed the showerhead and grabbed a bottle of white vinegar. She poured the vinegar into a bowl large enough to fit the showerhead and then popped the showerhead in too, face down, where it soaked whilst she cleaned the rest of the room.
She used about a third of the bottle of white vinegar – which will set you back just 35p at many major supermarkets – for the soaking, and then once the vinegar had worked it’s magic, she gave it a quick going over with a sponge and some Domestos Power Foam.
“You don’t need anything fancy,” she explained in the caption, “This white vinegar cost 35p…and that will do you three times”.
White vinegar will cost you only 35p at Aldi, Tesco or Sainsbury’s – but if you prefer to buy larger amounts you can get big bottles of it from online retailers like Amazon, which will sort your cleaning needs out for a seriously long time in advance, giving you a lot of bang for your buck.
