The Necarne Arms is offering a cut price mid-week promotion on pints of the black stuff for those who still fancy a tipple this January
Kicking off the new year without a drop of booze, many individuals are partaking in ‘Dry January’, laying off the alcohol for a month to recover from a festive season filled with revelry. The challenge to stay sober can be tough when friends continue to indulge, making one’s commitment to health and savings feel like a rather lonely endeavour.
However, a trend-defying pub in Northern Ireland has stirred up quite the buzz with its anti-Dry January campaign. The Necarne Arms in Irvinestown is tempting patrons with a comforting offer on Guinness as the new year begins, aiming to shake off those January blues.
The beloved Co Fermanagh local is attracting customers with an enticing mid-week special: bargain pints of Guinness. Available from Monday through Wednesday, starting at 5pm until closing time, it’s a deal hard to resist for those not participating in Dry January.
Taking to social media, the Necarne Arms announced cheekily: “No Dry January about here….. to start the year off we are doing pints of Guinness for £2.50 from Monday to Wednesday.”
This bold move comes after a recent scare where Great Britain faced a shortage of Guinness during the Christmas period, much to the chagrin of many. Thankfully for Irish beer enthusiasts, their supply remained unaffected, ensuring festive spirits remained high, reports Belfast Live.
The shortage happened following a statement by Diageo that limited distribution of Guinness across England, Scotland and Wales was imminent.
The drinks giant attributed this to a surge in demand, driven by the stout’s growing popularity among young people and women in recent years. The Irish public also believe its global popularity has been boosted by the success of Irish artists on the international stage.
