As stars are among those fleeing the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, it’s claimed some A-Listers are clamouring to reserve hotel suites at a number of high-end hotels
A number of A-List stars are said to be scrambling to reserve hotel suites as they flee the Los Angeles wildfires.
The tragic events have seen thousands of homes destroyed, including those of a number of celebrities. Paris Hilton took to social media to share the news she watched her house burn to the ground on live TV.
Now, a number of unnamed famous faces are said to be desperately trying to book rooms at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Sources claim celebrities had arrived in Teslas and Bentleys wearing just the clothes they had on when they fled their lavish homes.
It’s thought across LA, five star hotels such as The Peninsula, the Four Seasons, Sunset Tower, L’Ermitage and the Bel Air remain sold out, despite rooms going for upwards of $1,000 (£819) per night.
While none of the hotels have revealed who is staying with them, Kathy Hilton is said to have been spotted at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge, according to Mail Online. The outlet also claims Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson have reportedly been sighted at The Peninsula, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis allegedly.
A source told the publication how the Art Deco Sunset Tower had ‘felt like Titanic’. “We have the music, the cocktails, the lovely food, the fine linens, the piano player,” they said. “But this awful tragedy is unfolding and people have lost everything and no one knows what they are going home to. It’s very sad.”
And it’s claimed some venues are littered with pets too as celebrities look to vacate the danger zone with their beloved animals. A source at the Beverly Hills hotel told Mail Online: “There are dogs everywhere in the hotel. Staff are running around with pooper scoopers but no one minds. It’s lovely to have them around with their gentle energy. There’s non-stop barking and chaos but it’s fun.”
For those looking to purchase or rent a new property, Jason Oppenheim of Selling Sunset fame made an impressive pledge. He announced that his real estate brokerage The Oppenheim Group would offer its services for free. In a candid clip, the TV star told his legions of followers: “As real estate agents, we obviously have an obligation to help them find a place even when it’s going to be difficult, with thousands of people looking for places and not nearly as many houses available.
“The Oppenheim group is offering to represent anybody for free or we will credit you back any commission paid if you’ve lost your house and you’re now displaced. We will help you find a place or do our best to help you find a place to rent.”
He is not the only celebrity offering help to those affected. Musician John Legend, who is currently residing in a hotel with wife Chrissy Teigen, their four children, four dogs and bearded dragon, is said to have sent out their private chefs with food for exhausted fire fighters and police manning the barricades around Pacific Palisades.
Jamie Lee Curtis is also said to have donated $1 million to relief efforts, while stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts are thought to have pledged to match her donation. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also been on hand to help out and were spotted consoling some of those affected in Pasadena.
