A fitness influencer who loves to keep it real with her followers shared all the different angles of her body at the gym, urging people to stop comparing themselves to others
It’s the start of a new year, which means many people will be foraying into gym life for the first time.
When you’re there, it’s important to remember that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and not to get intimidated by muscly, lean people who have perhaps been on their fitness journey for a very long time. That’s exactly what fitness influencer and life coach Ella Mintram, who posts as @elmint on Instagram, wanted to share with her followers, as she frequently keeps it real with fans.
“Here’s a lil reminder that people post what they want you to see, whether that’s a more flattering angle or cutting out the parts that they don’t want you to see,” she posted as part of her caption online.
Ella continued: “So here’s to always showing you the other side. The side you don’t normally see. The side that we ALL have despite nobody ever posting it.”
The video showed her posing from the front, with her leggings pulled high and a sliver of stomach on show as she wore a cropped sporty bralette top.
The next angle she showed was of her doing weights on a machine, and her leggings had rolled down slightly to show off her stomach.
In the next short clip, the bralette moves slightly from right under her arm, exposing the flesh that everybody has. Because she was filmed from the side as well, her stomach didn’t look completely flat – again, just like most people’s.
She explained: “You might not see these angles as much, but this doesn’t mean that they don’t exist! Your body moving, folding, and changing at the gym is completely normal.”
In another clip, she explained “our bodies are meant to move,” saying: “It’s literally part of having a human body.”
“Stop comparing yourself,” she urged at the end of the video, blowing a kiss to the camera.
In the comments, people shared seeing someone like Ella go to the gym consistently has really helped them with their journeys.
Someone wrote: “Seeing a body that looks like mine has given me the confidence to get back in the gym, and I’ve been going consistently since October! Focusing on getting stronger, not changing how my body looks – finally enjoying it! Thank you!!”
Another penned: “The closest I’ve ever come to seeing a body like mine in the gym on popular media. Thank you, thank you, so appreciated.”
An Instagram user shared: “I love your content. You look just like me, and you’ve helped me feel like I deserve to take up space at the gym!”
“Thanks for sharing and keeping it real, we all needed to see a real person and not filtered,” somebody else insisted, with one woman writing: “I LOVE YOU! Thank you for your videos!! Being on a fitness journey myself, I have learned to love myself because of your videos!! I’m getting there, but tiny progress is still progress!”
