A woman has shared a video of a man seemingly removing a toilet seat before loading it into the dishwasher alongside dirty plates and cutlery – and viewers are not impressed
A bloke has caused a stir online after showing off how he cleans his loo seat in the dishwasher with his dishes.
TikTok user Alison Koroly posted a vid that seems to show her other half yanking off their toilet seat and chucking it into the dishwasher for a speedy clean. The 12-second video went viral, amassing nearly two million views in just three days, leaving viewers gobsmacked and questioning if it’s for real, especially since she labels her content as “short films and comedy sketches”.
One shocked viewer commented: “You can’t eat at anyone’s house…” while another added: “Yep, just throw the toilet seat in next to the plates.” A third chimed in: “I’m never buying a second hand dishwasher” and yet another said: “Not with dishes in it already – please God no.”
To calm her audience, Alison reassured the New York Post: “Our goal is to create entertaining content that people would laugh at and find fun and funny, and lighthearted.”
Despite the humour, Dr Brian Mangum, an associate professor of medicine and epidemiologist at University of Health Sciences Antigua, has warned against this unconventional cleaning method.
He highlighted: “The bigger issue, though, is what happens after you remove the toilet seat from the dishwasher.” He pointed out the risk of spreading germs from the loo seat to where kids’ plates might be washed post-pizza night.
“Would you eat pizza off the toilet seat, even if you had cleaned it first? Probably not. You would be much better off just using bleach or other commercial products designed to kill germs.”
Capitalising on Alison’s gag, a user quipped: “I wash my dishes with my toothbrush – shame to waste that excess toothpaste.” Another added their cheeky two cents: “I put my dishes in the toilet and flush. Much faster.”
And yet another chimed in with: “Don’t forget to put the toilet brush in the dishwasher as well!”
