Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has made a special gesture to teenagers impacted by the devastating wildfires that have ravaged her hometown of Los Angeles
Meghan Markle is defiantly ignoring critics as she continues to help those affected in the terrifying Los Angeles fires.
The Duchess spent time volunteering with her husband Prince Harry last week at the Palisades Convention Centre, where they helped hand out food packages – amongst other much-needed items – to those who had been forced to evacuate their homes. It is estimated that over 7,000 buildings have been destroyed or damaged by the wildfires, which have tragically claimed at least 25 lives.
Meghan and Harry also appear to have opened their Montecito mansion to friends who had to evacuate, and now the couple have been spotted volunteering again.
According to People magazine, Meghan made a sweet gesture for teenagers affected by the LA fires during an under-the-radar visit on 13 January, where she brought with her some items that go beyond the bare essentials, and would help the girls feel at least slightly normal once again.
The former actress made the visit in conjunction with Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery, an organisation Archewell has donated to – that was set up just a week ago by a seriously impressive 14 year old: Avery Colvert. The organisation is working to distribute personal care items to young girls who have lost their homes, or been displaced, including beauty and hair care items.
Meghan “arrived with new clothing, beauty products and lunch for the volunteers,” according to the report, which added: “Meghan directly engaged with families as they visited, helping the girls with shopping, sharing conversations and providing much-needed support throughout the visit.”
The official Instagram account for Altadena Teen Girls Fire Recovery commented under one post about just how much Meghan’s visit meant to them, writing: “Even just meeting her is life-changing! Having her support is unreal”.
Meghan was due to drop her new lifestyle series for Netflix this week but asked the streaming giant to postpone amid the “catastrophe” of the wildfires.
The show – With Love, Meghan – will now drop in early March, which means that Meghan’s fans will have to wait a little longer to binge-watch her new offering, which will see her dive into cooking, hosting, and gardening tips with the help of celeb pals “old and new”.
