Two-year-old Collie mix Harley was found abandoned in a landfill, where he was left to die after being struck by a vehicle and left paralysed – but then something amazing happened
A paralysed dog named Harley was dumped in landfill and left to die.
The chances of the abandoned pooch surviving were low – but thankfully, a miracle happened. The Collie mix was rescued from the rubbish tip in Turkey by charity workers, who are now desperately trying to find a home for him in the UK.
Miracle Missions, who are tirelessly searching for his forever home, said: “Imagine a scene of chilling winds, biting cold and snow swirling around a paralysed dog. Huddled amidst the rubbish, shivering, hungry and utterly alone, is Harley. His rescuers found him at a landfill, desperately trying to find food and shelter in the midst of a harsh winter.”
Harley underwent assessment and X-rays at the vet’s, who believe he was struck by a vehicle. Regrettably, his back legs were irreparable, leading the vet to recommend amputation.
After consulting with British vets, his rescuers decided to hold off on any procedures for now. It’s a miracle that he has survived as long as he did in his condition. The charity added: “He remains a spirited and loving dog. His disability doesn’t define him and he still has so much love to give.”
Currently residing in a foster home in Ipswich, Harley is on the lookout for a “loving home that can care for an incontinent dog.” His foster family describes him as intelligent, patient, and adaptable, noting: “He has adapted quickly and easily to his new life. He has been friendly to everyone he has met including cats.”
The response to the post has been overwhelmingly positive – so there’s hope that Harley will find a loving home soon. One Facebook user commented: “God bless Harley.”
Another chimed in: “So beautiful,” while a third shared: “Beautiful boy. Hope your forever person is out there.” If you are interested in adopting Harley, visit the Miracle Missions website.
