While Carrie Underwood’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration impressed viewers, the American Idol star is said to have thrown a ‘hissy fit’ after being far from impressed with the situation
Carrie Underwood’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration didn’t go to plan – and she is said to be fuming with it.
The American Idol star sang a brilliant rendition of America The Beautiful, but had to deal with a number of issues. The 41-year-old songstress was forced to sing a cappella as a technical glitch left the backing track unable to play.
However, while fans praised her for keeping her cool and delivering a rousing rendition, it’s said all changed back stage. According to an insider, Carrie was far from happy at the set up for her performance and reportedly had a “hissy fit” after leaving the stage.
It’s claimed Carrie was “dissatisfied” with her performance and laid the blame at the limited space she was given. A source told Mail Online the star had been left feeling cramped and uncomfortable.
“Her anxiety was high throughout the performance,” the insider claimed. “And she felt that she was not afforded the same level of respect or admiration that previous performers, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received. She felt as if she was ushered in and out and had a mini hissy fit afterwards.”
They added the star, who is used to playing huge venues, felt as though she was “just in a room” without a stage. They said the surroundings threw off the acoustics for Carrie.
Despite the star’s apparent discontent, her performance was widely praised on social media. One user on Twitter/X wrote: “YOU ARE A STAR. Grace under pressure. You handled that like a boss.” Another reacted to the performance, penning: “Carrie Underwood was the star [of] the inauguration!,” while a third said: “[Carrie] is a super star.”
Carrie had previously kept her political views private, having confessed to “try to stay far out of politics if possible”. However, her fans have since hit out at her backing of Trump prior to her performance. Some fans went as far as claiming her career is “over” due to her views
She recently explained the reason behind her deciding to perform for the new president, telling PEOPLE: “I love our country and am honoured to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
