Arsenal want to strengthen their squad in the transfer market in a bid to reinvigorate their push for a Premier League title with a forward top of their agenda to help Mikel Arteta
Arsenal have less than two weeks their January transfer business.
The clock is ticking for the Gunners after Mikel Arteta lamented his side’s lack of strength in depth at the moment. The north Londoners were unable to secure victory against Aston Villa this past weekend and the Spaniard highlighted the difference between his team and Liverpool.
“I think when you look at the performances, I don’t know how many teams are playing at this level in the league,” said Arteta. “When you look at the bench you probably say, look at the bench, we are very, very short.”
Arsenal could yet look to strengthen their forward line and prepare deals for the summer too. Mirror Football looks at some of the latest transfer news and rumours around the Emirates.

Arsenal talks progress
Arsenal are happy with how talks are progressing for midfielder Martin Zubimendi ahead of a summer move from Real Sociedad. The Gunners are advancing over an agreement but a transfer is not certrain, per reports.
There is an expectation that Thomas Partey and Jorginho will leave in the summer at the end of their contracts meaning Arteta will require reinforcement in the centre of the field. The Gunners are confident of landing Zubimendi and the Gunners’ head coach is said to have been instrumental in talks.
New forward on Arsenal shortlist
Arsenal are plotting a move for Inter Milan ace Marcus Thuram, according to TV Play, per Sport Witness. The Gunners are interested in strenthening their forward line after injuries to the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
Thuram has impressed for Inter this term scoring 14 goals in 26 games, adding six assists. Arsenal are ‘ready to do something crazy’ to secure his signature though the Serie A side are said to be hesitant over a January deal.
As a result, Arsenal may have more luck in the summer than if they make an immediate move for the 27-year-old.
Arsenal consider options
The Gunners are being reminded of the difficulty of working in the January transfer window, more deals seemingly possible in the summer to strengthen Arteta’s hand. With additions required now to aid any attempt at winning the Premier League this season, the north London side are considering their options.
Among them is reported to be Botafogo forward Igor Jesus. The 23-year-old has been capped four times for Brazil and scored once since his debut in October.
Jesus could be available this month if Arsenal decide to make amove, in contrast to the likes of Benjamin Sesko. RTI Esporte have claimed earlier this month that Arsenal have already seen a bid knocked back.
