Chef Tom Kerridge has shared the “very simple” meal he likes to cook at home which consists of just three ingredients – and it can all be cooked together in the air fryer
Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has revealed his go-to “very simple” home-cooked meal, using just three ingredients whipped up in an air fryer.
The 51-year-old chef told Men’s Health Magazine that for him, preparing dinner at home can be as effortless as tossing together new potatoes, chicken pieces and broccoli.
Discussing a typical family evening meal, he said: “There may be one evening a week that I’m back in time to do tea for my son.
“It’s very simple, [so something like] new potatoes, some chicken pieces and broccoli that’s been roasted in an air fryer.
“He can’t just grow up all the time learning about Peruvian cuisine or the different cooking methods that you can do with coals.”
Each element of Kerridge’s air-fried feast is tasty and nutritious. Good Food says cooking spuds skin-on preserves fibre and key nutrients such as potassium and iron, reports Gloucestershire Live.
Chicken is a good source of protein, while Healthline outlines broccoli’s power-packed vitamins and immune-boosting properties. The chef, who famously shed 12 stone, maintains a gym routine and enjoys varied foods including salads and proteins for lunch.
Despite aiming for balance, the Michelin-starred chef admits keeping to a consistent healthy diet can be tough due to his “chaotic” schedule.
“It might be a packet of pork scratchings and a bottle of water from a garage because I’m driving somewhere,” he said. The Great British Menu judge transformed his physique over the years through various methods.
Initially, he embraced swimming and going to the gym. He also made a switch from not-so-great habits to better ones, notably reducing his booze intake and adopting what he calls “a dopamine diet”.
He explained to Reach PLC: “So that was all lower carb and using higher proteins and good quality fruit and vegetables. That then helps release dopamine levels, that make you feel happy about what you’re eating.”
He recommends eating “proper food”, which translates to avoiding ultra-processed items and opting for the best quality you can afford. “Eat vegetables and eat protein, and cook them nicely, that’s the best way, just a balanced and complete diet using proper produce,” he said.
