A new survey has revealed what Brits really love about ski trips, and the reason is nothing to do with skiing or snowboarding
Brits have come clean about what they really love about ski trips – with the main activity surprisingly not making the top five.
As the winter sports season is underway, many are jetting off to snowy destinations, but it seems there’s more to these trips than just skiing or snowboarding.
A study has found that a whopping 29% of Brits are actually drawn to ski holidays for the breathtaking scenery, with the same percentage eager to see snow.
Close behind, 28% cherish spending time with loved ones, while 25% are keen on mountain activities. Leaving only 21% ranking skiing or snowboarding as the highlight of their holiday.
Crystal Ski Holidays’ latest research indicates that a tenth of adults have never booked a ski trip, believing it’s all about the slopes and nothing more. As a result, even those who are tempted by a snowy getaway are held back by their lack of skills when it comes to winter sports.
Crystal Ski Holidays predicts a shift in these winter vacations by 2025 with the emerging trend of the ‘Off-Off-Piste’ break.
To check out the emerging trend, the holiday provider joined forces with TikTok stars Ash Holme and Jack Remmington as the pair visited Val-D’Isere in France to discover the range of activities on offer aside from traditional skiing and snowboarding.
Ash and Jack expressed: “This trip has been unreal who knew all the stuff you could do beyond the slopes? The fact we could go ice diving on a ski holiday is crazy. For anyone thinking of booking a ski experience, DO IT!”
“We’ve had the best time from the obviously iconic apres session at Cocorico to amazing daytime activities like going ice driving and snow tubing. You really don’t need a pair of skis to make the most out of a ski-trip!”
Chris Logan, managing director at Crystal Ski Holidays, said: “We know that skiing can feel daunting to those who haven’t yet tried it, but anyone who thinks skiing requires sporting prowess should think again.
“Even for seasoned skiers, a winter holiday is about so much more than hitting the slopes and we’ve seen a steady increase in customers opting to add on experiences like snowmobiling, ice swimming and spa treatments as part of their mountain break.
“So, any newbie can rest assured there’s plenty of ways to get thrills and chills on a ski holiday.”
