Just in time for World Hot Chocolate Day, why not snuggle under your favourite blanket, pop on a film, and sip on a dreamy hot chocolate that’ll make you swear off the instant stuff for good?
This TikTok-famous recipe has taken social media by storm, promising a cup of cocoa so indulgent, it’s like a hug from an Italian café – thick, rich, and utterly creamy. Dania, the TikTok sensation with over 300,000 followers, shared the viral concoction, saying: “Nothing better than a warm cup of decadent hot chocolate on a cold day.”
Fans are going wild for it, with one commenting: “Italian hot chocolate is amazing! ” Another said: “This is real hot chocolate.”
Someone who gave it a go added: “Just made this and it was amazing! ” A fourth admirer exclaimed: “Wow, this looks amazing,” Ready to whip up this luscious treat for three (or just keep topping up your own mug)?
You’ll need about 240ml of milk, one to three tablespoons of sugar, two tablespoons of cocoa powder, a pinch of salt, 100 grams of chopped dark chocolate, 118ml of cold milk, two teaspoons of corn starch, and a dollop of whipped cream to crown your creation.
Dania shared her secret to a sumptuous hot choc treat, instructing: “In a small saucepan on low heat, whisk together the cup of milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until thoroughly combined. Add the chopped chocolate and, separately, whisk together the half cup of cold milk and corn starch (milk must be cold here to avoid clumping).”
She went on to instruct the addition of the “corn starch slurry” to the mixture and to keep stirring your hot chocolate on low-medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until it thickens up nicely – you’ll know it’s spot on when it coats the back of a spoon.
To serve up this delightful drink, she suggests pouring it into your favourite mugs and top it off with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Finally add a sprinkle of chocolate shavings to taste and enjoy.
