Newsboy fancies his nap, Prince Cleni, to win at Southwell and also hopes Buraback can score at Wolverhampton and complete his Daily Double
PRINCE CLENI is fancied to get back to winning form by beating eight opponents for the Join Southwell Golf Club Handicap Chase (1.40) at the Rolleston course on Monday.
Three times Christian Williams’ son of Doctor Dino has visited the East Midlands and three times he has left with the winner’s trophy, most recently when beating Dysania by a length and a half in a handicap chase on New Year’s Day.
My selection failed only narrowly in his follow-up bid at Doncaster 10 days ago, going under by a neck to Harjo.
That doesn’t tell the whole story – the 25-1 winner made all the running and Prince Cleni came home with gusto from the back of the field.
The move to leave out eight of the scheduled 18 fences probably didn’t help Prince Cleni, and a 1lb nudge up the handicap may not be enough to prevent Jack Tudor’s mount from defending his unbeaten record at Southwell.
At Wolverhampton, BURABACK is the selection to rack up a hat-trick in the Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap (6.30).
This 0-65 makes for a tougher assignment than the course-and-distance handicaps that have seen Derek Shaw’s six-year-old back in the Dunstall Park winner’s enclosure – but he’s scored in this grade before.
