At least five people shot in incident at Swedish school
At least five people have been shot at a school in Örebro, Sweden, police have confirmed.
Parts of Risbergska School in Örebro continue to be in lockdown after the incident where witness reported hearing “bangs, probably gunfire” as he confirmed some parts of the school have been evacuated. Those in classrooms who could not escape have been placed into lockdown, while teachers are said to have locked themselves in the staffroom.
Police have confirmed five people have been shot, and reports by the Expressen suggest the shooter later turned the gun on themselves. A Orebro police spokesman said “Five people are confirmed to have been shot. The danger is not over. The public MUST continue to stay away from Västhaga.
“Students are being accommodated in schools located adjacent to the affected area as well as in the school in question. This is being done for security purposes. The extent of the injuries is unclear.
“The operation is still ongoing. The charges are currently attempted murder, arson and aggravated weapons offense. An information point will be set up where relatives and others who have questions can gather. People are again urged not to go to school or hospital. We will return to where the point will be located.”
