It’s been 20 years since the President and First Lady wed, but now insiders give a glimpse into what makes the relationship between them tick along
Friends close to Melania Trump have hailed her as a “pillar of strength” to her husband Donald as he embarks on his second term in the Oval Office.
At 78, Donald became the 47th President of the United States last month following his inauguration. He managed an epic political comeback by beating Democrat Kamala Harris in the Presidential race last November.
Now Regine Mahaux, Melania’s close confidante and personal photographer, has poured praise on the First Lady, calling her a “very good number two” to the President.
The pair, who recently toasted to their 20-year wedding anniversary, seem to have a winning formula. Insiders say Melania plays the perfect partner by offering “balance” to her tycoon spouse and letting him “take the light”.
“There is something in her – the strong woman – but at the same time, there is a soft power; she’s really good at balancing her husband,” Regine told Hello! magazine.
The rollercoaster journey the duo has endured left Regine in awe of the First Lady’s resilience. She continued: “Sometimes I wonder how she could have the courage to keep on going; they’ve gone through so much. She’s committed. She loves him and he loves her.”
Despite their hectic life under constant scrutiny and packed schedules, Regine reveals that the lovebirds “find joy” whenever they do get a moment to do something with each other, reports the Irish Star.
When apart, the question on their lips is always after each other’s well-being.
With a shared focus on making the most of rare downtime together, the sentiment seems clear – Donald is more than happy to indulge Melania, knowing that her contentment is paramount.
Regine says Donald is “happy to make her happy” and cares deeply about Melania. She says the couple constantly ask about each other when working on separate schedules.
In her best-selling memoir Melania, the First Lady revealed Donald was with another woman when he first attempted to pursue her. She says the businessman asked for her number but she refused because of his date. She opted to take down his instead.
Melania also gave a glimpse of the couple’s shared interests, revealing: “We share a love for Elvis Presley and Elton John. Whenever he had music playing at home, he’d crank up the volume and pull me into a spontaneous dance.
“And when it came to movies, we enjoyed everything from Westerns to old classics to dramas. His taste was eclectic, just like mine.
“We visited the theater regularly, seeing almost every new release. Our evenings were filled with the excitement of baseball games, football games, and boxing events.”
The Trumps tied the knot on January 22, 2005, with a ceremony at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea and a lavish reception at Donald’s Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.
