Son of a former Zimbabwean cricketer, Sam Curran is a T20 World Cup hero for England and an in-demand player across various franchise leagues
England cricketer Sam Curran, 26, who received the MBE honour from King Charles III in 2024, has an impressive net worth thanks to his all-round skills and deals worth millions from the Indian Premier League (IPL).
From heroics as Player of the tournament in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia to being on the fringes of the national team, it has been a gradual downfall in the last 2 years for the star all-rounder. Curran has also been overlooked from the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
The player, though, still holds demand in franchise leagues across the world, and is all set to feature in the world’s richest cricket tournament, the IPL. He will play alongside fellow Surrey teammate Jamie Overton, in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2025.
Sam Curran’s net worth
As an English cricketer with world-wide T20 contracts, Curran is understood to be worth around £8.06 million. He is currently a centrally contracted player with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
He was picked up in the IPL 2025 auction for a price of £223,700 by CSK. However, a large part of his financial portfolio comes from a record-bid in the 2023 IPL auction, where he was picked up for £1.72 million per season by Punjab Kings.
In total, Curran has earned approximately £3.41 million from his IPL contracts alone. He is also the brand ambassador of SG sportswear, but has also collaborated with well-known brands like Adidas and Kinetica, adding to his increasing net-worth.
Public relationship
Curran has been in a relationship with Isabella Grace, a rising figure in the British entertainment industry. The couple reportedly have been seen together and dating since 2018.
Both Isabella and Curran are avid sports enthusiasts, with the couple showing off their interests on social media, ranging from extreme snow skiing to Isabella showing up to support the cricketer at various stadiums.
Born on June 3, 1998, in Northampton, Sam is the son of former Zimbabwe cricketer, Kevin Curran and the youngest among three brothers – Tom and Ben. While Tom is an English cricketer and regularly takes part in franchise leagues across the world, Ben represents Zimbabwe and made his debut for them in December 2024.
MBE recognition
Curran was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III during the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours. He was given the prestigious award for his contributions in England’s 2022 T20 World Cup victory.
He not only picked up the most wickets in that competition and was a go-to bowler for captain Jos Buttler, often delivering in pressure situations. He was also the Player of the Match in the final against Pakistan, returning figures of 3/12 in his four overs. He was also named as the Player of the Tournament.
Reacting to the MBE honour, Curran said: “I think it’s got to be the biggest honour, an award like that and playing cricket all my life. This has got to rank right at the top. To be recognised for some of the things I’ve done in cricket is special.”
Zimbabwe flee
His father Ben had represented Zimbabwe in international cricket and had also served with the Rhodesian military during the war that gripped the country. The Curran’s were a farming family with a strong sports-obsessed background but were forced to flee the country.
The rise of dictator Robert Mugabe and his discriminatory land reform policies was the main reason for their exit. In 2003, Mugabe’s government confiscated his father’s assets and to seek refuge, the family stayed at late Australia coach Geoff Marsh’s house.
The youngest of the Curran kids, Sam, was born in England but spent his early years in Zimbabwe. The family eventually moved back to the UK, where they have had good success, with the family continuing to leave a mark in the world of cricket.
