Police in South Korea discovered the pupil along with the teacher with stab wounds on the second floor of the school building in Seo District at around 6pm on Monday
A teacher in South Korea allegedly stabbed an eight-year-old girl to death – just moments after her concerned parents reported their daughter missing.
Police in South Korea discovered the pupil and teacher with stab wounds on the second floor of the elementary school building in Seo District at around 6pm on Monday. The young girl was found unconscious and was rushed to hospital but was tragically pronounced dead a short while later, according to authorities. The 40-year-old teacher was found nearby with stab wounds to the neck and arm.
The student’s parents had reported their daughter missing after she failed to turn up to her after school art class at around 5.18pm. Police were dispatched to the school where they found two people on the second floor of the audio visual room with knife wounds. The teacher underwent surgery for her wounds and appeared to have inflicted the knife injuries on herself, officers said. According to local media, the suspect had been a full-time teacher who had just returned from a period of absence. The teacher, who has not been named, did not have any known relationship with the child, police said.
Investigators said they plan to look into the teacher’s motivations behind the horrific stabbing once she recovers from surgery. Daejeon education authorities confirmed the elementary school will be closed on Tuesday.
