While Travis Kelce’s dreams of a second consecutive Super Bowl victory may have been shattered, he does still have one reason to celebrate as he can now spend more time with girlfriend Taylor Swift
With the Super Bowl now safely behind us and the Eras Tour firmly in the rearview, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have finally reached the part of the year where they can safely breathe a little easier, and dedicate some time to themselves. Yet while the high-profile couple are undoubtedly still in high demand, a source has revealed that they fully intend to “have a break together” following the defeat of Kelce’s team on Sunday night.
The defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9, but sadly, victory eluded them, with the final score being a 40-22 loss to the Eagles – something which was reportedly “upsetting for everyone.” However, even despite the setback, the couple are still firmly focused on where the future will take them.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, a source told the publication: “Their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating. Things seem great between them, and they’re incredibly happy together.”
Taylor, 35, was a prominent face at the Chiefs games this season, with the Super Bowl being no exception when it took place in New Orleans this past weekend. Accompanied by her brother Austin, dad Scott and friends including Ice Spice and Ashley Avignone, the songstress cheered on her beau as he hoped to secure his third consecutive victory at the highlight of the NFL calendar.
“She truly loves watching Travis play,” the source added – and win or lose, Taylor showed no signs of letting Kelce take to the field without her support. In fact, the sentiment also appeared to have been shared by the NFL star himself, after he notably attended more than a dozen of Taylor’s tell out Eras shows as she jetted around the world on tour.
The Chief’s disappointing loss, also came with an extra dose of conflict for Travis’ brother, Jason, who himself retired from the NFL last year after playing for the Philadelphia Eagles for his entire professional career.
“There isn’t a person I love or care about more [than Travis],” he wrote on social media. “It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity.
“He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.”
Yet even despite the setback on the field, Travis himself is likely to remain remarkably undeterred, as by his own admission just hours before Sunday night’s game, he revealed he was the “happiest he’s ever been”.
“I think I found it all. I just gotta, you know, keep it all. I absolutely love where I’m at in life,” he told Westwood One Sports. “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m enjoying coming in to work and what I do for a profession in my career. And I have an unbelievable support of family and friends who are chasing me down here for yet another Super Bowl. I’m just a very fortunate individual and [I’m] trying to take advantage of all the good days I got.”
And it appears Kelce’s future will continue to feature Taylor heavily, as his own father Ed Kelce revealed that there was a high chance of them “connecting more” now that their lives were beginning to return to normal.
Speaking on Australia ’s Today show, he said: “I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period for the two of them without the NFL season, with the Eras Tour. Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing.”
