Distressing CCTV footage captured the woman as a huge mound of snow fell 65ft from the roof of a residential building in Bucharest, Romania, landing on top of her and killing her
A mum-of-two has been killed in a horror accident right outside her home after a huge mound of snow fell on top of her.
CCTV footage showed the 35-year-old walking down an icy path alongside her home when the fatal accident happened. The victim stopped and looked up as the huge block of falling snow shifted off the roof and hurtled 65ft toward the ground.
The Mirror has seen CCTV footage of the tragic accident, but decided not to run it due to the distressing content. In it, the woman, wearing a red coat, is seen walking along the icy path between two buildings carrying what appears to be a shopping bag. Around halfway up the path, she suddenly stops and loooks up over her right shoulder, appearing to attempt to dodge to the side.
She is then seen holding up a hand in a desperate attempt to shield herself as the snow comes plummeting toward her. But she does not manage to protect herself or move out of the way and is sadly crushed by the mound of snow. Footage shows her crumpling to the ground before lying motionless on the path.
A man can then be seen rushing to her aid, appearing to shake the woman in an attempt to wake her before running off toward the street, possibly in a bid to get help, after which he returns to the woman’s side. The unnamed victim died at a residential complex in the Romanian capital of Bucharest yesterday. She was the partner of the complex’s community president.
Shocked residents are now demanding action from the authorities over the incident, claiming the dangerous area was not marked with signs. However, administrators warned residents not to drive near the block in a WhatsApp group before the fatal accident.
Local mayor Mircea Minea said it was the responsibility of the homeowners’ association to contact the fire department about clearing he snow from the roof, and not down to the local authorities. The community only called the fire department about the matter afer the victim had died, according to reports. An investigation into the woman’s death is ongoing. She leaves behind two young children.
