I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner and McFly singer Danny Jones said he’s “surprised” his wife Georgia is still with him after the chaos unfolded last year
McFly star Danny Jones has opened up about a difficult time that occurred in his home life, while he competed on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year.
The 38-year-old said as he got to grips with life in the Australian jungle, his long-term wife Georgia was left to move house alone, alongside their seven-year-old son Cooper.
Reflecting on the difficult time, the singer said: “I left my wife to move house, so I’m surprised she’s still with me, to be honest, because she moved house all by herself.”
Danny went on to say that on top of the stressful move, one of the trucks also crashed just six minutes away from their home, and damaged many of their belongings including expensive golf clubs.
Unaware of what was going on at the time due to having no contact with loved ones in the jungle, Danny said he wasn’t surprised to see how “overwhelmed” Georgia was when they eventually caught up.
He added on the Parenting Hell podcast: “When I got back, my wife was like, ‘I just think I need to go away to a hut [by] myself for a few days’ and I said, ‘Just go and take yourself away and have a few days [alone]’.
“You know what it’s like, she was overwhelmed. It got too much for her and I could see it in her. I was like, ‘You just need to go away’.”
Danny had a brief encounter with his wife and son when they surprised him in the jungle last year.
During an emotional exchange at the time, he said: “Honestly this place is an amazing place, even though it’s been challenging. It just makes you realise how much you love people and you put stuff into perspective.”
Days later, he was crowned the King of the Jungle in a final against Coleen Rooney and Reverend Richard Coles.
Just over three months after his jungle stint, the singer has hit the headlines over an alleged kiss between him and his former campmate Maura Higgins at The Brit Awards last weekend.
In a video obtained by The Sun, the pair appeared to be getting close, with a source telling the publication that they “seemed to be having a great time.”
Reach PLC has reached out to Danny and Maura’s representatives for a comment, but are yet to receive a reply.
Neither Danny, his wife, nor Maura have commented on the allegations.
