Liverpool fans told Alisson WILL LEAVE in the summer as Arne Slot faces huge blow

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been playing some of the best football of his career this season but the Brazil international has been tipped to leave in the summer

Former Liverpool star Mark Lawrenson has warned the club he expects Alisson to move on at the end of the season.

Alisson was the Reds’ saviour on Wednesday night against Paris Saint-Germain, making save after save to keep Luis Enrique’s side from scoring. It got even better for Arne Slot’s side in the closing stages when Harvey Elliott fired low into the PSG net to give the Premier League leaders a 1-0 lead to defend in the second leg at Anfield.

Liverpool have already agreed a deal to bring Giorgi Mamardashvili to Merseyside next summer. Caoimhin Kelleher is also still on the club’s books, and has played a decent amount of football this season during Alisson’s injury-enforced absence before the turn of the year, though he too has been linked with an exit.

Alisson’s contract runs until 2027, but there has been speculation over a move to Germany or Saudi Arabia. While some have tipped Kelleher to move on following the arrival of Mamardashvili, Lawrenson sees things differently.

“I have this feeling that the reason Liverpool have brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili is because Alisson is going to leave in the summer,” the 67-year-old told Paddy Power. “I have a feeling that he’ll want to leave, which will leave Caoimhin Kelleher and Mamardashvili fighting for the number one spot.

“Alisson is now 32 years old, so I think he’ll be looking for one final big payday before he retires. Every team in the world will want Alisson, so if Liverpool can get big money for him, then it works for all parties.”

In 2024, Alisson admitted being “a little bit attracted” after seeing the financial figures mentioned in connection with the Saudi Pro League, but expressed a desire to honour his Liverpool contract. “At the end of the day, you play football for love. It is the thing you like to do, but it is our profession and we want to use the years that we have to make the most of it,” he said.

“I think I am open to that personally – but not now. Now is not the time. I am really focused on the things we have here at Liverpool and while I still have my contract here, I will be focused here.”

The PSG match wasn’t the first to feature a big Alisson performance, but the keeper suggested it was his best for the club. Manager Arne Slot was glowing in his analysis of the Brazilian when he spoke to TNT Sports in the aftermath of the game.

“I have had some very good players as a manager but never the best goalkeeper in the world until now,” Slot said. “He showed that he is the best in the world today. To go away with a win here was probably a bit more than we deserved.”

Match-winner Elliot echoed those sentiments. “No words. This guy is unbelievable. The best in the world,” the midfielder said.

“Every game he shows it, he keeps us in so many games. Tonight I had an opportunity to repay this man. I don’t know where we would be without him. Hopefully he can keep stopping them going in and we can keep finishing chances. A good team performance.”
