Cleaning fan Laura Sibley, who shares cleaning tips and tricks on her Instagram page @fromwifetolife, has shared an easy hack to remove limescale from your shower screen
Limescale is a nightmare on shower screens, leaving those persistent white marks that never seem to budge.
If you’ve let the cleaning slide, don’t fret; there’s a surprising natural solution that has cleaning buffs buzzing – and it’s not your usual vinegar or baking soda trick.
Laura Sibley, who’s passionate about home hacks, claims that grease-proof paper is a “magic” tool for battling bathroom grime. Over on her Instagram page @fromwifetolife, she posted a video flaunting the “impressive” effects of grease-proof paper against pesky limescale – wiping it clean in a rapid 15 seconds.
The clip’s caption says it all: “Cleaning the shower screen is my least favourite job, it’s so faffy and we’ve got ridiculously hard water so the water marks are endless!
“This simple (and cheap) hack makes water (and watermarks) slide right off like magic. Honestly, I’m seriously impressed, and every time I shower, I’m constantly impressed.”
You see, the method’s dead simple: scrunch up some grease-proof paper, give your shower screen a good rub-down, and watch in awe as limescale and water marks just vanish.
Baking paper has become the latest household item to be hailed as a must-have cleaning tool for tackling stubborn hard water marks in bathrooms. This wax paper is moisture-proof and coated in paraffin wax, making it perfect for removing and repelling water, reports the Express.
On the flip side, baking paper is covered in silicon, which provides excellent heat resistance. It’s the wax or silicone that leaves behind an invisible film that not only repels watermarks but also fingerprints.
That’s why these products are so effective at removing watermarks. However, before you try this tip, make sure to remove any soap scum from the surface first because the baking paper won’t work if there is built-up soap scum.
