Sam Gould, who has been sacked, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure on Monday – with the victims reported to be a 13-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman
Wes Streeting has voiced his horror after one of his aides admitted two counts of indecent exposure.
Sam Gould, 33, pleaded guilty to the crimes on Monday. Gould, who worked in the Health Secretary’s office, is reported to have exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl before following her into a cul-de-sac in Romford, East London.
He also exposed himself to a 25-year-woman in Hornchurch last month, it is understood. The former Labour Parliamentary candidate, who worked in Mr Streeting’s office handling casework, has been sacked.
Mr Streeting said: “There are no words to express my horror that a mother and her daughter have been put through this ordeal, and will have to deal with the trauma of it for some time to come.
“As soon as I was made aware of his arrest he was suspended, and as soon as the guilty plea was entered I took immediate steps to sack him through official HR processes.”
The Cabinet member called for Gould to step down as a councillor following his conviction. He said: “There are no excuses for his appalling behaviour. I am calling for him, again, to resign as a Redbridge councillor immediately.”
Gould resigned from his job with Mr Streeting and has also been suspended from the Labour Party. The 13-year-old girl’s mum told The Sun her daughter is now scared to leave the house.
She said: “We’re meant to be able to trust people in power. It’s worrying to know that he has worked with vulnerable people and school-aged children.”
