Virgin Media is giving away a free iPad that usually costs £279 alongside its TV and broadband bundle that also includes Sky Sports and Netflix
It’s not often you get something for free these days, especially any product from Apple. Virgin Media is earning a reputation for its giveaway deals that have previously included free TVs and robot vacuum cleaners.
Now the provider is back with a new offering, with customers able to bag a free 64GB iPad (9th gen) Cellular when signing up for its flagship TV and broadband bundle. The deal went live on March 11 for a limited time, but Virgin has not set an end date, only confirming the deal will remain ‘while stocks last’ and it continues to be on our teams radar.
The model included is the ninth generation iPad, which was released in 2021. For context, the most recent model is the new 11th generation iPad, which launched earlier this month.

Despite the iPad included in the Virgin giveaway not being the most up to date, buying it outright would still set you back £279 from John Lewis, or around £200 from Apple and Amazon for a refurbished model. It features a 10.2” Retina display, 8MP Wide back camera and is powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic chip.
The Virgin deal comes days after the launch of Apple’s new iPad range which includes the more affordable iPad A16 (£329) and powerful iPad Air M3 (£599). For those looking to upgrade their tablet without changing their current TV or broadband plan, Sky Mobile is a good alternative as it lets members spread the cost of the new iPad Air from £17, with nothing to pay upfront.
Unlike past freebie deals, the iPad is only available with a single Virgin plan, the Mega Volt bundle. On the surface, this £88.99 per month option seems pricey – and it is – but you get plenty for your money.
With this, members get Virgin’s fastest Gig1 Fibre broadband, which offers an average speed of 1,130Mbps. This also comes with Virgin’s WiFi guarantee, which usually costs £8 and offers £100 back should speeds drop below 30Mbps.
The bundle also provides more than 240 TV channels including Sky Sports HD and Sky Cinema HD, plus a free Netflix standard with ads subscription. Finally, members will receive a 250GB O2 SIM for the iPad or a smartphone and the choice of a six-month O2 Extra including Disney+ or Amazon’s Prime Video.
It’s also worth noting the contract runs for 18 months, which is shorter than the 24-month plans offered by rivals like Sky. Virgin has also introduced the One Touch Switch scheme, meaning customers don’t have to contact their existing provider to complete the switch.
Virgin is also among the providers to increase its bills each April as inflation rises. Prices are set for 2025, but Virgin has confirmed the Mega Volt bundle will increase to £94.29 per month from April 2026, something we recommend shoppers look at before they buy.
