Danny Jones has addressed his BRIT Awards kiss with Love Island star Maura Higgins as he issued an apology to his wife Georgia and their family
Danny Jones has addressed his drunken kiss with Maura Higgins in a heartfelt post.
In a statement, the McFly singer said: “Hello everyone, sorry it’s taken me a while to post this but I’ve taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we’ll continue to deal with this privately.
“I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.” The singer was spotted getting cosy with his I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! co-star just hours after the BRIT Awards earlier this month. Danny and Maura were filmed sharing a kiss at the Universal Music BRIT Awards afterparty on Saturday March 1. But just one week after the kiss became public knowledge, more information came to light on their drunken antics.
A source close to Danny said: “Danny has been mortified about whats happened and the awful situation he has put everyone in. He cares so deeply about his family and hopes his words will draw a line under what has been a deeply upsetting time, for everyone. Georgia and his son are absolutely everything to him. Throughout all this, he has been so thankful for the support of his fans. He just wants to move on, and heal in private.”
The source added: “Fair play to Danny to owning this and addressing things head-on.”
Maura and Danny had attended the Universal Music afterparty at 180 The Strand, mingling with other top names. It was here that the pair were seen kissing one another. Danny was seen giving Maura a peck before moving in to kiss her on the lips in front of onlookers. An insider said that they “seemed to be having a great time,” adding: “They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss.”
Sources claim that the pair later partied the night away at the swanky Nobu Hotel in Central London on March 1. During their outing, sources claimed they were knocking back wine until 4am, before leaving together at 6am.
But while speculation has been rife about the state of his marriage, sources have told how Danny and Georgia are very much still together and working through the drama. “They are clearly looking to put things behind them, and move on with their lives. It really hasn’t been a good time at all but they are very much together,” a source told the Mirror.
Our source went on to say that the couple are “positive people” who are looking towards their future together. “Things have been hard but they are moving forward as a couple,” they said. Last week, an insider told us that Danny’s infidelity has been a “slap in the face” for Georgia, 38.
Danny and Georgia met in 2009 at a Miss London event but she has previously discussed their relationship and revealed she was initially hesitant to date Danny. “He was a bit of a d*ck, and I didn’t really like him,” she said in the past, adding that Danny had chased her for a year before she decided to go on a date with him.
