The Traitors star Charlotte Chilton has decided not to attend a celebrity event in London on Saturday just hours after Conor Maynard revealed he wasn’t the dad of her child
Charlotte Chilton has pulled out of a glitzy event after Conor Maynard revealed he wasn’t the dad of her child. The Traitors star was named as one of the celeb guests attending the Mariposa Ball and Awards on Saturday night but opted to stay at home hours after Conor’s shocking Instagram announcement.
On Friday evening, Conor revealed he had taken a DNA test and learned that he was not the father of Charlotte’s baby, after the reality star publicly outed him and said he abandoned her after a one night stand.
Charlotte previously claimed that she had a brief fling with Conor after meeting through his sister’s boyfriend, Harry Clark, who won the series of The Traitors that Charlotte was on. The drama caused Harry’s co-stars to unfollow him following Charlotte’s claims that Conor had decided he didn’t want anything to do with her daughter, Penelope.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Conor revealed that he had taken a paternity test, in view of Charlotte’s legal representatives earlier in the week and he had received the results. The R U Crazy hitmaker said in a statement: “Earlier this week, I took a paternity test regarding Charlotte Chilton’s baby girl, Penelope, in the presence of her legal representative.
“Today I’ve received the test results which confirm that I am not Penelope’s father. I am glad that the speculation can finally be put to an end. All I would ask is that people act with kindness in response to this news – there is a child at the heart of all of this and that should not be forgotten. I wish Charlotte and her family all the best. Conor.”
Charlotte gave birth to her daughter in October last year, telling fans that she had been enjoying “magical moments” with the little one. Just one month later, she opened up about her journey to motherhood, explaining that she had suffered a “hate” phase. “My mum, well, she’s basically taken on the role of the father. She’ll get the bottles sterilised for me, she’ll take the baby when I need it,” she said.
In wake of Conor’s statement, Charlotte has kept a low profile online but has made a subtle change to her Instagram account. She has restricted her online followers from commenting on any of her posts after social media trolls shared vicious abuse. One user exclaimed: “You have got a lot of apologising to do!” While another commented saying that Penelope “deserved” to know who her father was.
However, Charlotte’s fans were quick to defend her in the comments, with one fuming follower writing: “He said to act in kindness and y’all are doing the exact opposite. Who are you to act all high and mighty as if you’ve never been wrong before. Shame on you. Go touch grass and leave this new mama and her baby alone.”
Charlotte had previously undergone IVF during her marriage to her estranged wife, Laura, but this proved to be unsuccessful. She previously stated she believed she had been infertile before falling pregnant with her daughter.
