Ant and Dec celebrate Newcastle’s League Cup win over Liverpool
Ant and Dec were left screaming with joy as they watched Newcastle United Football Club win an important game of sport.
The presenting duo are proud Geordies – and were both present at London’s Wembley Arena on Sunday to watch their home team take ok Liverpool Football Club in the Carabao Cup final. They watched as Newcastle romped to victory with a 2-0 defeat over their Liverpudlian challengers.
Ant McPartlin, 49, confessed he overexerted himself as he was losing his voice from screaming, shouting and celebrating. While Declan Donnelly 49, risked disappointing his wife and two children, by announcing that watching Newcastle win was the greatest day of his life.
The duo took to social media to share their happiness following full time and showed them surrounded by fellow fans in the stands. The pair looked in high spirits as they gazed at the camera of Dec’s phone and recorded a short video message for their followers.
Taking to TikTok, Dec yelled at the camera: “Well? We did it!” And Ant wheezed: “Toot toot. I’ve lost my voice. Oh my god, this is amazing.”
Dec then declared: “I can’t believe it. This is the best day of my life. Apart from my wedding, and the kids. But it’s the best day of my life.” The pair then continued to exclaim and cheer. The post sparked a flurry of comments from followers, with one writing: “I just say you guys on my TV on the cameras for the mach!!.”
There was drama around the match, however, as ITV were forced to apologise for some unexpected bad language. Before the game began, cameras got up close to the two games – where a pep talk by Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk heard letting out a swear word while urging his side on to victory.
With a camera man mere centimeters away from him and the squad, it was near impossible for viewers to miss him urging his team: “We worked so hard to be here. Let’s f***ing do this together, come on.” After the f-bomb made its way to air, ITV quickly issued an apology to anyone that was offended by the bad language.
But this action only encouraged fans to flip off at the network for saying sorry over a passionate pep talk. Taking to X, fans raged at the channel – with one writing: “We live in a time of wet wipes.” Another declared: “Stop apologising for bad language when covering sports. You poked a camera into a team talk, what did you expect?”
A further fan complained: “Utter nonsense by ITV.” While another typed: “If that offends you switch off the footy and watch Songs of Praise.” And yet another fan complained: “I’d have been surprised if there hadn’t been swearing!”
As the game got under way, viewers continued to share their opinions about the game – with many declaring Newcastle were playing better than their rivals from the other coast of the country. Dan Burn scored the first goal of the game – sparking raucous celebrations from the Newcastle team. And the team pulled further towards victory when Alexander Isak scored a second goal for Newcastle – securing their victory.
